From 5–18 August 2013, Haleiwa icon Matsumoto Shave Ice returned to Shibuya PARCO Part1 Spanish Slope plaza for a two-week pop-up — the Channel headline: “it’s back this year.”

What to order

Fine, fluffy American-style shave ice (not coarse Japanese kakigori) carried 62-year syrup recipes that looked louder than they tasted. Board favorites: Rainbow (strawberry / pineapple / lemon) and Hawaiian (pineapple / coconut / banana); off-menu Matsumoto mix (coconut / pineapple / lemon) was orderable. Merch — tees, stickers, keychains — sat beside the window.

On 14 August, second-generation owner Stanley Matsumoto was scheduled to visit the PARCO stand.

PARCO Part1 still sits on Udagawa spillover into the scramble — watch that density on the Shibuya Crossing live camera. Summer pop-ups belong in average trip to Japan cost.
