On 8 May 2013, Toei’s CG feature Captain Harlock (dir. Shinji Aramaki, open 7 September 2013) took over Shibuya street media for a cast-and-ship launch day.
What hit the street
- Poster jack through about 14 May — black and white special posters of Shun Oguri (Harlock) and Haruma Miura (new character Yama) with the line about fighting what binds you
- Station-front visions looping the cast-announcement reel
- Eyepatch “crew” handing Asahi Shimbun extras announcing the voices
- A Marza Animation Planet special cut of the Arcadia passing over scramble visions — ship drifting across screens, then accelerating into space with black smoke
Official copy teased boarding: like the film Facebook/Twitter/mail crew drive — “if you want to change the world, climb aboard.” Production budget talk at the time put the project near US$30 million.
Why the Channel URL mattered
The Arcadia drop was literally staged on the crossing’s vision plane — the same geometry the Shibuya Crossing live camera still frames. Film-promo weekends are peak basin density; budget the trip with average trip to Japan cost.
This page restores the /harlock_arcadia/ backlink from press of that May 2013 jack, not a current screening calendar.
